Population of Zamboanga City is Four Times Higher in 40 Years (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), Zamboanga City, a highly urbanized city in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, posted a total population of 807,129 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 205,335 persons compared to its total population of 601,794 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 2.98 percent. This is lower than the 3.12 percent annual PGR of the city between the census years 1990 and 2000.

Population of Zamboanga del Sur Increased by 123 Thousand (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the province of Zamboanga del Sur, excluding Zamboanga City, posted a total population of 959,685 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 123,468 persons compared to its total population of 836,217 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.39 percent. This is lower than the 1.85 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 1990 and 2000

Population of Dinagat Islands Increased Five Times in 50 Years (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the province of Dinagat Islands posted a total population of 126,803 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 19,852 persons compared to its total population of 106,951 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.72 percent. This is higher than the 0.79 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 1990 and 2000.

If the average annual PGR recorded at 1.72 percent during the period 2000 to 2010 continues, the population of Dinagat Islands would double in 41 years.

Population of Surigao del Sur Increased by Almost 60 Thousand (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the province of Surigao del Sur posted a total population of 561,219 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 59,411 persons compared to its total population of 501,808 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.12 percent. This is higher than the 1.05 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 1990 and 2000.
