Population of Tacloban City Rose to More than 200 Thousand (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), Tacloban City, a highly urbanized city in the province of Leyte, posted a total population of 221,174 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 42,535 persons compared to its total population of 178,639 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 2.16 percent. This is lower than the 2.70 percent annual PGR of the city between the census years 1990 and 2000.

Leyte's Population Went Up to 1.6 Million (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the province of Leyte, excluding Tacloban City, posted a total population of 1,567,984 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 154,287 persons compared to its total population of 1,413,697 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.04 percent. This is lower than the 1.39 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 1990 and 2000.

Increase of 53 Thousand Population was Recorded in Eastern Samar (Results from the 2010 Census of Population and Housing)

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the province of Eastern Samar posted a total population of 428,877 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 53,055 persons compared to its total population of 375,822 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.33 percent. This is the same as the 1.33 percent annual PGR of the province between the census years 1990 and 2000.

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the NCR posted a total population of 11,855,975 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 1,923,415 persons compared to its total population of 9,932,560 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.78 percent. This is lower than the 2.25 percent annual PGR of the region between the census years 1990 and 2000.

Based on the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), the City of Manila, a highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region, posted a total population of 1,652,171 persons as of May 1, 2010. This is larger by 71,089 persons compared to its total population of 1,581,082 persons counted in the 2000 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2000 to 2010 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 0.44 percent. This is higher than the negative 0.13 percent annual PGR of the city between the census years 1990 and 2000.
