Commodity Flow in the Philippines : 2001

Total value of domestic trade in 2001 amounted to P338.90 billion, higher by 25.2 percent from the P270.75 billion reported in the year 2000. Quantity traded, however, recorded 19.6 million tons, an increase of 17.6 percent compared to the previous year?s figure of 16.7 million tons. Commodities were mostly traded via water, with value and quantity comprising 99.2 percent and 99.7 percent, respectively.

Value and quantity of domestic trade declined

The total value of domestic trade in fourth quarter 2002 decreased by 1.6 percent, resulting to P85.60 billion from P87.01 billion in fourth quarter 2001. Most of the commodities were transported via water, with a share of 99.4 and 99.0 percent during the last quarters of 2002 and 2001, respectively.

Value and quantity of domestic trade declined

In the first quarter of 2003, the total value of domestic trade decreased by 9.4 percent, resulting to P74.59 billion from P82.37 billion registered during the same period of last year. Water was the major mode of transport with a share of 99.6 and 98.9 percent during the first quarters of 2003 and 2002, respectively.

Value and quantity of domestic trade decreased

The total value of domestic trade in second quarter 2003 declined by 13.6 percent, resulting to P85.36 billion from P98.76 billion registered during the same period of last year. Most of the commodities were transported via water, with shares of 99.6 percent and 98.9 percent during the second quarters of 2003 and 2002, respectively.

Value and quantity of domestic trade declined

In the third quarter of 2003, the total value of domestic trade decreased by 31.7 percent, resulting to P78.38 billion from P114.79 billion registered during the same period of last year. Water was the major mode of transport with a share of 99.4 percent and 99.5 percent during the third quarters of 2003 and 2002, respectively.
