Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : April 2009

alue of Production slides further in April 2009

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry on an annual basis declined to 14.9 percent in April 2009, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Seventeen of 20 major sectors accounted for the decline in production with significant values noted in the following: leather products, furniture and fixtures, petroleum products, basic metals, transport equipment, paper and paper products, footwear and wearing apparel, miscellaneous manufactures, rubber and plastic products, chemical products, machinery except electrical, and food manufacturing. Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

On a monthly basis, the performance of VaPI was flat in April 2009

Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : February 2010

Value of Production Index (VaPI) of the manufacturing industry continued to experience an upward trend as it posted a two-digit annual growth of 31.5 percent in February 2010, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This was attributed to the increases in production values reported by 17 major sectors, led by petroleum products which exhibited three-digit growth of 238.9 percent. Other major sectors that significantly contributed to the growth were the following: electrical machinery, machinery except electrical, leather products, miscellaneous manufactures, transport equipment, basic metal, rubber and plastic products, non-metallic mineral products, tobacco products, wood and wood products and fabricated metal products. Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : March 2008

Value of Production decelerates in March 2008

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry, after posting a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent in February 2008, shrank by 5.0 percent in March 2008, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This was primarily due to the sluggish performance in production observed in the following sectors: machinery except electrical, furniture and fixtures, miscellaneous manufactures, tobacco products, textiles, electrical machinery, fabricated metal products, and publishing and printing. Refer to Tables 1-A and 7.
