Value of Production decelerates in March 2008
Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry, after posting a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent in February 2008, shrank by 5.0 percent in March 2008, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This was primarily due to the sluggish performance in production observed in the following sectors: machinery except electrical, furniture and fixtures, miscellaneous manufactures, tobacco products, textiles, electrical machinery, fabricated metal products, and publishing and printing.
