Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries : December 2011

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for total manufacturing continues to decelerate as it posted an annual decrease of 6.4 percent in December 2011, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). The decreases in production value were exhibited by nine (9) major sectors, with double-digit decreases noted in the following: food manufacturing (-27.1%), fabricated metal products (-19.3%), machinery except electrical (-18.8%), leather products (-14.5%), basic metals (-14.4%), paper and paper products (-12.1%) and textiles (-12.0%). Value of Production Index (VaPI) for total manufacturing reflected a slower average annual growth of 21.5 percent in March 2010, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This was accounted for by the three-digit growth in production value for petroleum products (144.2%) and two-digit growth in 10 major sectors. These sectors were basic metal, miscellaneous manufactures, transport equipment, leather products, wood and wood products, rubber and plastic products, machinery except electrical, electrical machinery, beverages and publishing and printing. Value of Production drops in May 2007

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry slumped by 5.5 percent in May 2007 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Eleven (11) major sectors reported decreases in production value, with two-digit year-on-year decreases in the following: textiles, machinery excluding electrical, leather products, basic metals, tobacco, miscellaneous manufactures and electrical machinery.
