Value of Production drops for the third month

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry continued its downtrend as it posted a 3.7 percent decline in November 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Machinery excluding electrical posted the highest decrease of 48.8 percent, followed by five other major sectors with two-digit decreases in production value. These were textiles, petroleum products, tobacco, rubber products and non-metallic mineral products. Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry on a year-on-year basis posted an increase of 3.0 percent in April 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Among the major sectors, leather products posted the highest production increase of 88.9 percent, while five (5) other major sectors also registered double-digit growth, as follows: petroleum products, textiles, machinery excluding electrical, basic metals and furniture and fixtures. Value of Production continues to drop

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry dipped further by 11.2 percent in October 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). The drop was due to the continued two-digit decreases in production reported by machinery excluding electrical, petroleum products, textiles and tobacco. Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry on a year-on-year basis registered an increase of 9.9 percent in March 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Sectors which posted considerable increases were tobacco, fabricated metal products, miscellaneous manufactures, textiles, food manufacturing, petroleum products, paper and paper products, electrical machinery, basic metals, leather products and rubber products.
