Value of Production registers negative growth
Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry slowed down by 0.1 percent in September 2006 compared with the year-ago figure, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). This was due to the two-digit decreases in production reported by the following major sectors: machinery excluding electrical, leather products, textiles, chemical products, publishing and printing, tobacco, petroleum products, wood and wood products and rubber products.
