One In Four Women Have Ever Experienced Spousal Violence (Preliminary results from the 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey)

Based on the preliminary findings of the 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), one in four (26%) ever-married women aged 15-49 has ever experienced physical, sexual or emotional violence by their husband or partner.

PSA Conducts the 11th NDHS in 2017

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will hold the 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS 2017) in 1,250 areas across the country from 14 August to 12 October 2017. This survey will provide information on family planning, reproductive health, maternal and child health, early childhood mortality, HIV/AIDS-related knowledge and attitudes, and violence against women in the country. The NDHS 2017 is the eleventh in a series of demographic surveys conducted every five years since 1968. For the first time, the survey will make use of computer-aided personal interview (CAPI) during data collection. The Philippine Government, through the General Appropriations Act provides for the funding support of this activity. Technical and IT support is also provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the ICF, and the Department of Health (DOH).
