No PSGC Update for the 4th Quarter of 2017

There were no changes in the geographical-political units of the country during the fourth quarter of 2017 (01 October – 31 December 2017), hence, there were no submitted updates on the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) during the quarter. Consequently, the total number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays remained the same with the PSGC updates as of 30 September 2017.

PSGC 3rd Quarter 2017 Updates: Abolition of the Negros Island Region (NIR)

The Negros Island Region (NIR) was abolished through Executive Order No. 38 – “Revoking Executive Order No. 183 (s. 2015) which Created a Negros Island Region and for Other Purposes”, signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on 07 August 2017. The abolition of NIR reverted the provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to Region VI (Western Visayas) and Region VII (Central Visayas), respectively.

No PSGC Updates from April 01 to June 30, 2017

There were no changes in the geographical-political units of the country during the second quarter of 2017 (01 April 2017 – 30 June 2017), hence, there were no submitted updates on the Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) during the quarter. Consequently, the total number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays remained the same with the PSGC updates as of 31 March 2017.

No PSGC Updates from January 1 – March 31, 2017

There were no changes in the geographical-political units of the country during the first quarter of 2017 (1 January 2017 – 31 March 2017), hence, there were no Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) updates during the quarter. Consequently, the total number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays remained the same with the updates as of 31 December 2016.
 

No PSGC Updates from October 1 - December 31, 2016

There were no changes in the geographical-political units of the country during the last quarter of 2016 (01 October 2016 - 31 December 2016), hence, there were no Philippine Standard Geographic Code (PSGC) updates during the quarter. Consequently, the total number of regions, provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays remained the same with the updates as of 30 September 2016.

Per confirmation with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and members of the PSA Technical Working Group on Geographic Classification (TWGGC), there was no plebiscite conducted to ratify any proposed changes in the country's local government units (LGUs) during the period as required by the Local Government Code. There was also no request/certification received from LGUs for the correction of misspelled municipal/barangay names.
