Bukidnon stude bests 16 other 2007 PSQ regional champs, bags national trophy

A freshman Chemistry student from the Central Mindanao University, Province of Bukidnon, bested 16 other hopefuls from various regions in the country to bring home the national championship trophy in the 16th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management, Diliman, Quezon City on December 4, 2007. Sixteen-year-old Benson E. Dusaran answered correctly all the ten questions in the third and final (difficult) round of the contest. His winning this year's PSQ made him the first national champion from Region 10 (Northern Mindanao). Dusaran was awarded a cash prize of PhP25,000, a PSQ medal, and a specially designed trophy, among others. His coach, Rolito G. Eballe was also given a special recognition and PhP12,500 cash award.

A BS Accountancy student from Bataan Polytechnic State College emerged as the national champion in the 15th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held on December 5 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Assembly Hall in Manila.Sixteen-year-old Alvin Jay P. Perdio representing Region 3 (Central Luzon) clinched 19 out of 20 questions in the first two rounds of the Quiz. At the end of round three, Perdio was three-points ahead of second-placer Jade T. Ventura (Davao Region) of the University of the Philippines in Mindanao.

NSO, PSA invite college freshmen to join the 15th PSQ

The National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) invite freshman students currently enrolled in colleges and universities all over the country to join this year's battle for the nation's young statistics whizzes. "We are announcing the conduct of the 2006 PSQ this early to allow more time for schools to scout for statistical talents and to ensure that their bets are prepared for the competition, " said NSO Administrator Carmelita Ericta.

Mallari of Ateneo de Manila University outshined 16 other hopefuls from various regions in the country to bring home the national championship trophy in the 14th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held on December 6, 2005 at the Assembly Hall of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Malate, Manila. The PSQ is a nationwide search for young statistics whizzes that began in 1992 spearheaded by the National Statistics Office and the Philippine Statistical Association

Who will be the next PSQ champion?

Competition among young statistics whizzes heats up as provincial eliminations for the 2005 Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) are now on. Regional finals are set on November 15 while the national championship will be on December 6 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Assembly Hall in Malate, Manila.The PSQ is a countrywide competition among college freshmen spearheaded by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Philippine Statistical Association (PSA) since 1992 to instill the value of statistics among Filipino youth and win greater public cooperation in government statistical activities.
