CAR wins back the PSQ National Finals trophy

A Medical Laboratory Science student from the Saint Louis University (SLU)-Baguio City won the first place in the 19th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) National Finals held at the Assembly Hall, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Manila on December 8, 2010. It was the fourth time for the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to dominate in the annual competition. Moreover, CAR was also represented by college freshmen from SLU-Baguio City when it grabbed the national championship trophy in 1999 and in 2008.

NSO, PSA call on college freshmen: Join the 19th PSQ

The National Statistics Office and the Philippine Statistical Association invite college freshmen to join the19th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ). This year's battle for the nation's young statistics whizzes is open to Filipino first-time freshmen students currently enrolled in colleges and universities all over the country. The PSQ is an annual competition designed to test the contenders' knowledge of statistics as acquired from the secondary education curriculum. It aims to promote, enhance, and instill appreciation on the value of the statistics among Filipino youth. It also seeks to generate greater public awareness on the importance of statistics in development planning and gain better cooperation in government statistical activities.

CAR stude tops 1999 PSQ

Cordillera Administrative Region representative Daryl Abiog clinched first place in the 1999 Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) National Finals held at the William Shaw Theater at De La Salle University (DLSU) last December 3. Abiog, a 17-year old BS Mathematics freshman at Saint Louis University-Baguio City scored perfect in the final round besting 14 other students from the 15 regions in the country. His victory ended the winning streak of Region 4’s University of the Philippines-Los Baños, which had bagged the championships since 1994.
