Masbate: Population to Increase by 33 Persons Per Day (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

The total population of Masbate, as of May 1, 2000, was 707,668 persons. This implied an increase of 53,816 persons over the 1995 census figure (with September 1, 1995 as reference date) or an average annual growth rate of 1.7 percent, slightly higher than that of the 1990 to 1995 period (1.64 percent). A corresponding increase on the number of households was also recorded at 138,945 households, higher by 10,085 and 24,538 households over the 1995 and 1990 figures, respectively. This resulted to an average household size of 5.09 persons, slightly higher than the average household size (5.07 persons) recorded five years ago.

Marinduque: Population to Double in 38 Years (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

Marinduque had a total population of 217,392 persons based on the results of the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000). This registered an increase of 17,482 persons from 199,910 persons five years ago. This translated to an annual growth rate of 1.81 percent from 1995 to 2000. If the average annual growth rate continues at 1.81 percent, the population of Marinduque was expected to double in 38 years.

Population Count by Barangay

As mandated by Commonwealth Act No. 591, Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, and EO No. 121, the NSO is the sole agency authorized to undertake a national census of population and housing. Census 2000 is the 11th Census of Population and the 5th Census of Housing since 1900.

The report focuses on the infrastructures, facilities, and services present in the barangays. These data were also used to determine the classification of the barangay, whether urban or rural.
