Population Growth Rate at 3.56 Percent in Zamboanga City

The total population of Zamboanga City, as of May 1, 2000 was 601,794 persons. This implied an increase of 90,655 persons over the 1995 census figure with an average annual growth rate of 3.56 percent. This was 0.52 percentage point higher than the average growth rate recorded in 1995 (2.74 percent). A corresponding increase on the number of households was also registered, from 81,321 households in 1995 to 177,152 households in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 5.12 persons, higher than the national average of five persons.

Valenzuela City: Annual Population Growth Rate Down to 2.27 Percent

The total population of Valenzuela City, as of May 2000 was 485,433 persons. This was up by 48,268 persons over the 1995 census figure. For the period 1995 to 2000, the average growth rate of Valenzuela was 2.27 percent, down by 2.54 percentage points from the 1990 to 1995 period. If the current growth rate continues, the population of Valenzuela City is expected to double in 31 years.

Quezon City: The Philippines' Largest City

The 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000) results showed that Quezon City registered a total population of 2,173,831 persons, higher by 184,412 persons over the 1995 Census of Population (POPCEN) results. This figure recorded a 1.92 annual population growth rate, lower by 1.42 percentage points than the annual population growth rate during the 1990 to 1995 period. A corresponding increase on the number of households was also recorded at 480,624 households, higher by 64,836 households over the 1995 figure. This resulted to an average household size of 4.5 persons, slightly lower than the average household size (4.8 persons) recorded five years ago and the national average of five persons.

City of Pasig: Population Reached Half a Million

The population of Pasig City, as of May 2000 was 505,058 persons. This was up by 33,983 persons as compared to 471,075 persons recorded in the 1995 Census of Population (POPCEN). For the period 1995 to 2000, the annual population growth rate of Pasig City was 1.50 percent, lower than that of the 1990 to 1995 period (3.22 percent). If the current annual population growth rate of the city continues, the population of Pasig City was expected to double in 46 years.

Camiguin, One of the Least Populated Provinces in the Philippines

Camiguin, the smallest province in Northern Mindanao (Region X), had a total population of 74,232 persons based on the results of the 2000 Census of Population and Housing. It was the second to the smallest in the Philippines in terms of population. It registered an annual growth rate of 1.88 percent from 1995 to 2000, higher than the 1.08 percent growth rate during the 1990 to 1995 period. If the current rate continues, the population of Camiguin was expected to double in 37 years.
