Young Population Dominates Biliran (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

Biliran, the island province of Eastern Visayas, had steadily grown to 140,274 persons based on the 2000 Census of Population and Housing. It registered an increase of 8,065 persons from 132,209 persons five years ago. This translated to an annual growth rate of 1.28 percent from 1995 to 2000. Similarly, the number of households also rose to 27,909, higher by 2,263 households from the 1995 figure. This gave an average household size of 5.02 persons, lower than the 1995 average of 5.15 and slightly higher than the national average of five persons.

Nine Out Of Ten Antiqueños Were Hamtikanons

The province of Antique registered a total population of 472,822 persons in the year 2000, from 431,713 in 1995. This figure gave the province an average annual growth rate of 1.97 percent, from 1.14 percent registered during the 1990 to 1995 period. Similarly, the number of households rose to 93,298, higher by 8,933 households from 1995. This gave an average household size of 5.07 persons, a slight decrease from the 1995 average of 5.11 persons.

Aklan: Population Growth Rate up to 2.05 Percent in 2000 (Results from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, NSO)

The total population of Aklan, as of May 2000, was 451,314 persons, an increase of 40,775 persons from what was recorded in the 1995 Census of Population. This figure translated to an annual population growth rate of 2.05 percent, from 1.43 percent during the 1990 to 1995 period.
