Producer Price Survey : November 2008

Producer Price Index maintains uptrend

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry posted higher growth of 8.5 percent in November 2008, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Eight out of 20 major sectors registered double-digit growth namely: textiles (13.4%), fabricated metal products (13.1%), machinery except electrical (12.2%), rubber and plastic products (11.8%), beverages (11.4%), electrical machinery (10.9%), food manufacturing (10.8%) and basic metals (10.3%). On the other hand, petroleum products decreased in price by 7.2 percent. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.

Producer Price Index maintains single-digit growth

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry grew at a slower rate of 7.5 percent in December 2008, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Price increases were noted in eighteen major sectors with two-digit growth observed in the following: electrical machinery (16.0%), machinery except electrical (15.9%), textiles (13.4%), fabricated metal products (13.3%), beverages (11.4%), and chemical products (10.1%), On the other hand, petroleum products recorded price decrease of 23.6 percent. Producer Price Survey : January 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry slightly dropped by 0.7 percent in January 2010, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Furniture and fixtures posted the biggest decline of 30.3 percent followed by fabricated metal products(-12.6%). Seven major sectors exhibited single-digit decrease led by electrical machinery (-8.5%).. On the other hand, increases in the PPI were observed in eight major sectors led by petroleum products (34.8%) Moreover, flat growths were observed in three major sectors namely:transport equipment, wood and wood products and leather products. Producer Price Survey : February 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry registered a decline of 1.9 percent in February 2010, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Furniture and fixtures posted the biggest decline of 36.4 percent followed by fabricated metal products (-10.1%). Eight major sectors exhibited single-digit decrease led by electrical machinery (- 9.5%). On the other hand, increases in the PPI were observed in nine major sectors led by petroleum products (33.1%). Moreover, the growth rate of PPI for wood and wood products remained flat. Producer Price Survey : March 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry posted a decrease of 1.2 percent in March 2010, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Among the major sectors, furniture and fixtures and electrical machinery posted significant declines of 35.4 percent and 10.3 percent respectively, while eight major sectors posted single-digit decreases in price led by fabricated metal products. On the other hand, increases in the PPI were observed in ten major sectors led by petroleum products (32.6%). Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
