Producer Price Survey : June 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry went down by 5.9 percent in June 2010 compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Double-digit declines were posted by three (3) major sectors led by furniture and fixtures at 25.9 percent. This was followed by electrical machinery and machinery except electrical with decreases of 18.3 percent and 17.1 percent, respectively. On the other hand, 12 major sectors exhibited increases in PPI led by footwear and wearing apparel and leather products with two-digit growth of 11.6 percent and 10.0 percent, respectively. Producer Price Survey: July 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry dropped 5.5 percent in July 2010, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Furniture and fixtures recorded the biggest decline of 27.9 percent followed by two other major sectors that posted significant decrements namely: machinery except electrical (- 16.9%) and electrical machinery (-15.2%). On the other hand, twelve major sectors exhibited increases in PPI led by footwear and wearing apparel and leather products with double-digit increases of 12.7 percent and 11.4 percent, respectively. Producer Price Survey: August 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry declined by 7.5 percent in August 2010 compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the monthly Producer Price Survey. Three out of eight major sectors registered double-digit price decreases led by machinery except electrical (-22.2%). This was followed by two other major sectors namely: electrical machinery (17.1%) and furniture and fixtures (13.0%). On the other hand, twelve major sectors exhibited increments in PPI with significant price increase noted in leather products (13.3%) and footwear and wearing apparel (10.9%). Producer Price Survey : September 2010

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry registered a slower decline of 6.9 percent in September 2010 compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the monthly Producer Price Survey. Eight major sectors posted negative rate led by machinery except electrical which registered 23.7 percent. Other two major sectors posted two-digit price decreases, namely: electrical machinery (15.1%) and furniture and fixtures (12.2%). On the other hand, twelve major sectors reported price increases, with two digit growth observed in leather products (14.9%) and footwear and wearing apparel (10.4%). Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.

Producer Price Index increases at a slower rate

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry posted an increment of 4.1 percent in January 2009, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey.
