The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry further decreased to 3.4 percent in September 2009, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Producer Price Index maintains negative trend

The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry went down by 4.8 percent in October 2009, compared with the year ago level, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Producer Price Survey. Six major sectors reported significant price reductions as follows: furniture and fixtures (-31.3%), basic metals (-16.9%), paper and paper products (-14.2%), miscellaneous manufactures (-13.9%), electrical machinery (-12.4%) and petroleum products (-11.3%). On the other hand, seven major sectors posted price increases led by wood and wood products (19.6%) and footwear and wearing apparel (12.2%) Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
