Camiguin Registers Double-Digit GDP Growth in 2023 Among the Economies in Northern Mindanao

All provinces and Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) in Northern Mindanao recorded positive economic growths in 2023 from their levels in 2022. Camiguin registered the fastest growth at 11.0 percent, followed by Misamis Occidental at 6.7 percent, and Misamis Oriental at 6.3 percent. Moreover, the two HUCs of the region, City of Cagayan de Oro and City of Iligan, grew by 5.8 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively. These five economies grew faster than the regional GDP growth of 5.3 percent in 2023. (Figure 1)

In terms of share to the regional economy in 2023, City of Cagayan de Oro had the biggest share of 28.1 percent, followed by Bukidnon with a share of 26.2 percent. Together, these two economies accounted for more than half of the PhP 984.75 billion GDP of Northern Mindanao in 2023. (Figure 2)
