Renewing Further the Term of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines as Private Sector Representative to the NSCB Executive Board

RENEWING FURTHER THE TERM OF THE TRADE UNION CONGRESS
OF THE PHILIPPINES AS PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVE
TO THE NSCB EXECUTIVE BOARD

 

WHEREAS, Executive Order (EO) No. 121, issued on 30 January 1987, created the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) as the highest policy-making and coordinating body on statistical matters;

WHEREAS, Section 4 of EO 121 provides that the composition of the NSCB Executive Board shall include a private sector representative to be elected by the Board and whose term shall be for a period of three (3) years;

WHEREAS, the term of the first private sector representative to the NSCB Executive Board, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), was renewed four times before the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) succeeded it thru NSCB Resolution No. 2, s. 2005;

WHEREAS, TUCP’s term as private sector representative was renewed for another three years thru NSCB Resolution No. 15, s. 2007, because of its willingness to: (1) sit in the Executive Board; (2)  be active in its deliberations; and (3) attend its meetings regularly;

WHEREAS, TUCP’s second term will end in December 2010 and options considered in view of the expiration of the TUCP’s term are: (1) elect a new private sector representative; or (2) renew TUCP’s membership for another term;

WHEREAS, the TUCP made substantial contribution during Board discussions and had consistently supported the undertakings of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) thru membership in interagency committees and participation in various fora/events of the PSS;
           
WHEREAS, considering: (1) the same set of criteria used in 2005 and 2007; (2) TUCP’s role in the business/economic and labor sectors; and (3) its contribution to the NSCB Executive Board in particular, and the PSS in general, the NSCB-Technical Staff recommends the further renewal of its term as the private sector representative to the Executive Board;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board approve the renewal of the term of the TUCP as the private sector representative to the NSCB Executive Board for a period of three years
(from January 2011 to December 2013).
