div /div divPopulation growth rate down to 1.22 percent/div div /div divCamarines Sur registered a total population of 1,693,821 persons based on the results of the 2007 Census of Population (POPCEN 2007), higher by 142,272 persons over the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (CENSUS 2000) figure of 1,551,549 persons. This translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.22 percent from 2000 to 2007, lower by 0.5 percentage point than the 1.72 percent PGR recorded from 1995 to 2000./div div /div divThe number of households in the province also increased to 335,163 households, higher by 46,991 households over the Census 2000 figure of 288,172 households. This resulted to an average household size of 5.0 persons, slightly lower than the average household size of 5.4 persons in 2000./div div /div divNaga City was the most populated city/municipality/div div /div divAmong two cities and 35 municipalities in Camarines Sur, Naga City was the largest in terms of population size (160,516 persons or 9.5 percent), followed by Iriga City (97,983 persons or 5.8 percent), Libmanan (92,839 persons or 5.5 percent), and Pili, the provincial capital (76,496 persons or 4.5 percent). These figures resulted to a sex ratio of 105 males for every 100 females. In 2000, the sex ratio was at 104 males per 100 females./div div /div divMedian age remained at 19 years/div div /div divIn 2007, the household population of Camarines Sur had a median age of 19 years, which means that half of the household population were below 19 years old. The same median age was recorded in 2000./div div /div divBy age group, persons aged 5 to 9 years and 0 to 4 years had the highest proportions to household population with 13.9 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively./div div /div div /div div style="text-align: center;"img alt="Figure 1" src="http://www.census.gov.ph/data/pressrelease/2009/pr0996f2.gif" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: arial, helvetica; font-size: medium; text-align: -webkit-center;" //div div /div divMales dominated the household population in the age bracket 0 to 54 years. The highest gap was recorded in age group 15 to 19 years (53.6 percent for males and only 46.4 percent for females). Females outnumbered the males in the remaining age groups (55 years and over)./div div /div divProportion of male voting-ages was higher than females/div div /div divIn 2007, there were 893,416 persons representing 52.9 percent of household population who belonged to voting-age population (aged 18 years and over). This was slightly higher than the proportion of voting-age population (52.4 percent of household population) recorded in 2000. Moreover, in 2007, the proportion of male voters (50.5 percent) was slightly higher than that of the female voters (49.5 percent)./div div /div divDependency ratio declined by one person/div div /div divThe proportion of young dependents (0 to 14 years) to household population was 40.3 percent, while the old dependents (65 years and over) comprised 4.5 percent. The working-age population (15 to 64 years) accounted for more than half (55.2 percent) of the household population./div div /div divThe overall dependency ratio for Camarines Sur was 81 dependents (73 young and 8 old dependents) for every 100 working-age population. This ratio was slightly lower compared to the 2000 dependency ratio of 82 dependents for every 100 working-age population./div div /div divMore single males than females/div div /div divSingle or never-married persons comprised 45.5 percent of household population 10 years old and over, while married person comprised 44.2 percent. The remaining 10.3 percent were either widowed, divorced/separated, had common law/live-in marital arrangement, or had unknown marital status. In 2000, 45.1 percent and 44.6 percent of household population 10 years old and over were single and married, respectively./div div /div divThere was a higher proportion of males (55.7 percent) among singles. On the other hand, females dominated the rest of the categories for marital status: married (50.6 percent), widowed (76.2 percent), divorced/separated (60.7 percent), and common-law/live-in (51.4 percent)./div div /div divMore females than males pursued higher levels of education/div div /div divOf the household population 5 years old and over, 43.4 percent had attended or completed elementary education, 30.8 percent reached high school, 2.4 percent had attended or finished post secondary education, 6.1 percent were college undergraduates, 6.2 percent were academic degree holders, and 0.2 percent had attended or finished post baccalaureate courses./div div /div divThere were more females who had academic degrees (59.4 percent), who were college undergraduates (51.0 percent), and attained post baccalaureate education (60.9 percent)./div div /div divOf the 760,630 household population 5 to 24 years old, about 66.5 percent attended school at anytime during School Year 2007 to 2008. There were more males (50.8 percent) than females (49.2 percent) who attended school during said School Year./div div /div divAbout 5 persons occupied each housing unit/div div /div divA total of 335,163 households resided in 331,962 housing units in Camarines Sur. This translated to a ratio of 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units, or a ratio of 5.1 persons per occupied housing unit. In 2000, the ratio of households to occupied housing units was posted at 102 households per 100 occupied housing units, or 5.5 persons per occupied housing unit./div div /div divMajority of occupied housing units had roofs made of strong materials/div div /div divMore than half (58.5 percent) of the occupied housing units in Camarines Sur had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum, higher by 9.2 percentage points from the proportion recorded in 2000. Meanwhile, about one in every three (33.9 percent) occupied housing units in 2007 had outer walls made of concrete/brick/stone, an increase of 5.8 percentage points from the 2000 figure./div div /div div /div div /div div /div div /div div /div div(Sgd.)
