p align="JUSTIFY"bPopulation growth rate decelerated/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The total population of the province of Iloilo (excluding Iloilo City) as of August 1, 2007 was 1,691,878 persons. This figure was higher by 132,696 persons over the 2000 Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000) population count of 1,559,182 persons. This translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.13 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, lower by 0.97 percentage point from the 2.10 percent annual PGR posted for the period 1995 to 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population in the province increased by 130,877, from 1,558,351 in 2000 to 1,689,228 in 2007. The number of households likewise rose to 344,866 households in 2007, or by 46,273 households, from 298,593 households in 2000. These figures resulted to an average household size of 4.9 persons, slightly lower than the average households size of 5.2 persons in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOton was the most populated municipality/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Oton was the most populated among one city and 42 municipalities comprising Iloilo (excluding Iloilo City). This registered a population of 77,621 persons or 4.6 percent of the total provincial population. It was followed by City of Passi (4.5 percent) and Pototan (4.0 percent). The least populated municipality was Bingawan with 0.7 percent share to the total population of the province./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"bSex ratio rose to 104 males per 100 females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of Iloilo's 1,689,228 household population in 2007, there were 860,169 males and 829,059 females. These figures resulted in a sex ratio of 104 males for every 100 females. In 2000, the sex ratio was 102 males for every 100 females./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMedian age increased by one year/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The median age of 23 years was recorded in Iloilo in 2007. This means that half of Iloilo's household population were below 23 years old. This median age was one year higher than the median age of 22 years registered in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"By age group, the highest proportion of the household population were in the age groups 5 to 9 years (11.5 percent) and 10 to 14 years (11.4 percent)./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"Males outnumbered females in the household population aged 0 to 49 years. Females, on the other hand, outnumbered males in ages 50 years and over./p p align="JUSTIFY"bProportion of voting-age for males was higher than females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, about 59.3 percent of 1,689,228 household population were of voting ages (18 years and over). This was slightly higher than the proportion of voting-age population (57.9 percent) recorded in 2000. Moreover, the proportion of voting-age population was higher among males (50.4 percent) than females (49.6 percent) in 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOverall dependency ratio was 68/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the proportion of the household population aged 0 to 14 years was 34.0 percent while those aged 65 years and over comprised 6.5 percent. The proportion of working-age population (15 to 64 years) was 59.5 percent of the household population./p p align="JUSTIFY"The overall dependency ratio of Iloilo province in 2007 was 68.1, lower than the 2000 dependency ratio of 70.6. This means that for every 100 persons in the working age group, there were 68 dependents, broken down into 57 young dependents (0 to 14 years) and 11 old dependents (65 years and over)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore males than females were single/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Single or never-married persons comprised 47.4 percent of the household population 10 years old and over, while married persons shared 44.8 percent. The remaining 7.8 percent of the household population 10 years old and over were either widowed, divorced/separated, had common law/live-in marital arrangement, or had unknown marital status. In 2000, single persons comprised 48.7 percent of household population 10 years old and over; married persons, 43.0 percent; and the rest of the categories for marital status shared 8.3 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among singles, there were more males (55.2 percent) than females (44.8 percent). On the other hand, females predominated the categories for married (50.4 percent), widowed (77.1 percent), divorced/separated (62.1 percent), and those with common-law/live-in marital arrangement (51.5 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore females reached higher levels of education/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the 1,501,726 household population five years old and over, 37.7 percent had attended or completed elementary education, 31.1 percent had reached or finished high school, 5.8 percent had attended or finished post secondary education, 6.5 percent were college undergraduates, 9.4 percent were academic degree holders, and 0.1 percent took post baccalaureate courses./p p align="JUSTIFY"Males predominated the preschool (54.4 percent), elementary (53.6 percent), and high school (50.1 percent) levels. On the other hand, females predominated higher levels of education, from post secondary to post baccalaureate courses./p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the 701,777 household population 5 to 24 years old, about 68.9 percent attended school at anytime during School Year 2007 to 2008. There were more males (51.0 percent) than females (49.0 per cent) who attended school during the said school year./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAbout five persons per occupied housing unit/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"A total of 344,866 households occupied in 343,115 housing units in Iloilo. This translated to a ratio of 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units, or a ratio of 4.9 persons per occupied housing unit. In 2000, the ratio of households to occupied housing units was 101 households per 100 occupied housing units, or 5.3 persons per occupied housing unit./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMajority of occupied housing units had roofs made of strong materials/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Nearly 8 in every 10 (77.5 percent) occupied housing units in Iloilo had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum.
