  • Value of Production Index still increases

    Value of Production Index (VaPI) for the manufacturing industry on a year-on-year basis continued to grow by 11.7 percent in April 2005, according to the preliminary results of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI). Significant growth was brought about by ten (10) major sectors: transport equipment, furniture and fixtures, petroleum, non-metallic mineral products, publishing and printing, chemical products, miscellaneous manufacture, rubber products, textile and food manufacturing.Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

    On a month-on-month basis, VaPI increased by 5.0 percent in April 2005. A notable increase was posted by tobacco followed by petroleum products, electrical machinery and fabricated metal products.Refer to Tables 1-A and 1.

  • Volume of Production Index (VoPI) slightly moves up

    Volume of Production Index (VoPI) posted a year-on-year increase of 1.0 percent in April 2005. Sectors with double-digit increases were noted in furniture and fixtures, transport equipment, non-metallic mineral products, rubber products, textile and miscellaneous manufacture. Refer to Tables 2 and 1-B.

    On a month-on-month basis, VoPI in April 2005 picked up by 4.1 percent. Major sectors that significantly contributed to the growth were the following: tobacco, petroleum products, electrical machinery and fabricated mineral products. Refer to Tables 2 and 1-B.

  • Value of Net Sales continues to gain

    Value of Net Sales in April 2005 posted an increment of 14.8 percent compared to a year ago figure. Major sectors that showed remarkable improvements were the following: transport equipment, furniture and fixtures, petroleum products, basic metals, paper and paper products, footwear and wearing apparel, food manufacturing, textile and non-metallic mineral products. Refer to Tables 2-A and 3.

    Likewise, Value of Net Sales on a month-on-month basis went up by 4.2 percent. Double-digit increases were noted in tobacco and publishing and printing.Refer to Tables 2-A and 3.

  • Volume of Net Sales increases

    On a year-on-year basis, Volume of Net Sales increased by 2.7 percent in April 2005. Transport equipment, furniture and fixtures, footwear and wearing apparel, paper and paper products and textile exhibited favorable performances.Refer to Tables 2-B and 4.

    On the other hand, Volume of Net Sales registered a growth of 3.4 percent on a monthly basis. Tobacco and publishing and printing led all major sectors with 34.4 and 10.5 percentages, respectively.Refer to Tables 2-B and 4.

Producer's Price Index (PPI) moves higher

Producer's Price Index (PPI) for total manufacturing posted a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent in April 2005. This was brought about by significant increases in the following major sectors: petroleum products, tobacco, fabricated metal products, chemical products, machinery excluding electrical, basic metals and publishing and printing. Refer to Table 5..

On a month-on-month basis, PPI for total manufacturing gained by 0.9 percent in April 2005. Sectors that contributed to the increase were machinery excluding electrical, chemical products, petroleum products, transport equipment, beverage and furniture and fixtures. Refer to Table 5.
