- Producer Price Index continue to posts negative trend
The Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for the manufacturing industry continue to decrease at a slower rate of -1.4 percent in February 2011, according to the preliminary results of the monthly Producer Price Survey. This was brought about by significant decrements posted by two major sectors namely: machinery except electrical (-12.8%) and furniture and fixtures (-22.0%). On the other hand, growth rates for twelve major sectors picked up led by petroleum products (19.7%); non-metallic mineral products (12.6%), and basic metals (10.1%). Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
