· Producer Price Index (PPI) registers increase
Producer Price Index (PPI) for the manufacturing industry posted an increment of 2.6 percent in March 2007 compared with the year-ago figure. Fourteen (14) major sectors registered increases in the PPI, led by publishing and printing and footwear and wearing apparel with 20.9 percent and 17. 4 percent, respectively. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.
On a month-on-month performance, PPI posted an increase of 0.3 percent in March 2007. Price increases were exhibited by the eleven (11) sectors led by basic metals. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
· Response Rate
The response rate for March 2007 is 91.1 percent, which corresponds to the retrieval of 277 sample establishments� reports. Refer to Table 2.

· Technical Notes
Weights for the PPI are based from the results of the 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over.
Data of non-responding sample establishments are estimated based on previous records and other available sources. Revisions to the preliminary estimates are done upon receipt of actual reports of late respondents.
