    • Inflation rate in Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR) remained at its November level of 2.6 percent. Average inflation rate for the year at 2.9 percent was lower than the 5.7 percent registered in 2001.

  • Month-on-month inflation went up to 0.4 percent in December from 0.1 percent in November mainly brought about by the upward adjustments in the prices of food items like sea foods, vegetables, selected fruits, cooking oil, spices and seasonings, flour, bread and biscuits. In addition, increases in the prices of LPG, kerosene, medicines, selected construction materials and higher purchased power adjustment (PPA) and currency exchange rate adjustment (CERA) for electricity in NCR along with the higher electricity rate in some regions also contributed to the upward movement.
