Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) National Statistician and Civil Registrar General (NSCRG) Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, Ph.D., looks forward to greater and active participation from the local civil registrars, solemnizing officers, members of the academe, statisticians, and other stakeholders from all over the country in the 2nd National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (2NCCRVS) to be spearheaded once again by the PSA on 06 to 07 October 2022.

The conduct of the activity is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1106 series of 2015 dated 20 August 2015 declaring the years 2015 to 2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade in the Philippines. The 2NCCRVS has adopted the theme “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Implementation Strategies through Digital Information” and is slated to be held in the National Capital Region.

The 2NCCRVS aims to provide an avenue for the dissemination of the recent developments on CRVS in the country to the prime movers of civil registration and data users of vital statistics. Specifically, it aims to provide updates on recent laws, policy issuances and procedures as well as data appreciation for vital statistics. It also intends to impart updates on the Civil Registration System Information Technology Project II (CRS-ITP2), Implementation of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP), and other activities in line with the attainment of the goals and national targets of the CRVS Decade.

One of the highlights of the 2NCCRVS is the announcement of the recipients of awards as Outstanding Local Civil Registry Offices (LCRO) for the year 2021. Moreover, the top three winners of the 2022 Nationwide Search for the Most Innovative LCRO for CRVS shall also be sharing their success stories and best practices.

On another note, the First Regional Cultural Contest for LCROs has been announced to be part of the preliminary activities for the 2NCCRVS which will serve as an opportunity for the city/municipal civil registrars and their respective staff to showcase their talents. It also aims to contribute to physical fitness and stress reduction amid challenges in the workplace. The grand winner shall be performing live during the convention.

The PSA successfully gathered around 2,300 participants nationwide during the 1NCCRVS held either virtually and on-site. The event which was simultaneously aired via Facebook live streaming also reached more than 22,000 daily engagements from netizens. This year’s NCCRVS is aimed to be conducted onsite.
