Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities First Phase of February 2023

  1. Increments in the average retail prices of a kilogram of well milled rice, ranging from PhP 0.10 to PhP 1.72, were observed in eight trading centers during the first phase of February 2023 (01 to 05 February 2023) relative to their price levels in the second phase of January 2023  (15 to 17 January 2023). Its average retail prices per kilogram, however, went down by PhP 0.50 in Tacloban City and by PhP 0.60 in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the period. (Table 1)

  2. Changes in the average retail prices of a kilogram of pork with bones, ranging from PhP 0.59 to PhP 25.00, were noted in eight trading centers during the first phase of February 2023. (Table 2)

  3. The average retail prices of a kilogram of bangus increased by PhP 0.62 to PhP 70.00 in nine trading centers during the first phase of February 2023. Meanwhile, its average retail prices per kilogram dropped by PhP 5.00 in Baguio City, by PhP 10.00 in Cagayan de Oro City, by PhP 22.50 in San Fernando City (Region 1), and by PhP 35.00 in Kidapawan City during the period.   4. Many trading centers registered declines in the retail prices of vegetables during the first phase of February 2023. (Table 4)

  5. Decreases in the retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 2.00 to PhP 275.00, were seen in 12 trading centers during the first phase of February 2023 relative to their price levels in the second phase of January 2023. On the other hand, its average retail prices per kilogram increased by PhP 50.00 in Kidapawan City, by PhP 95.50 in Baguio City, and by PhP 107.50 in Cotabato City during the period. (Table 5)

  6. The average retail prices of a kilogram of banana lakatan varied among the trading centers during the first phase of February 2023.  (Table 6)

  7. Six trading centers posted decrements in the average retail prices of a kilogram of refined sugar, ranging from PhP 1.50 to PhP 4.30, during the first phase of February 2023 compared with their price levels in the second phase of January 2023. However, its average retail prices per kilogram rose by PhP 0.45 to PhP 3.50 in five trading centers during the first phase of February 2023. (Table 7)
