NSCB Resolution No. 3
Series of 1991

APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS TO IMPROVE AND STRENGTHEN THE PHILIPPINE STATISTICAL SYSTEM

WHEREAS, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), created by virtue of Executive Order No. 121, is hereby recognized as the highest policy-making and coordinating body of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS);

WHEREAS, the Board created a Task Force (TF) to study a proposal made by several groups for the reorganization of the PSS;

WHEREAS, the Task Force identified the problems besetting the PSS and recommended the adoption by concerned agencies of the following:

  1. The internal restructuring of the NSO within the budgetary ceiling; and

  2. The need for a statistics law to mandate the conduct of major censuses and statistical surveys to assure budgetary allocation to carry out such activities.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the abovecited recommendations of the Task Force.

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, that the recommendations be adopted by concerned agencies without the need for a reorganization.

Approved this 14th day of March 1991.
