ENJOINING ALL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO SUPPORT THE 1992 CENSUS OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Act No. 591 provides for the periodic conduct by the Bureau of Census and Statistics, now National Statistics Office (NSO), of all censuses,including the census of agriculture and fisheries;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid law and Executive Order No. 121, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has approved the conduct of a Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) by the NSO in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture in February 1992;

WHEREAS, the main objective of the CAF is to provide government planners and policy-makers with data on which to base their plans for the country’s development;

WHEREAS, the successful conduct of the CAF requires the support and assistance of various government agencies including the local government units;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that all the Departments of the Government and its instrumentalities, including government owned or controlled corporations, as well as local government units are hereby enjoined to provide the following support and cooperation to the NSO so that the success of the 1992 CAF will be ensured:

  1. The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) to assist in the publicity and information drive;

  2. The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), to ensure the security of the census enumerators and supervisors in critical areas and provide transport facilities as the need arises;

  3. The Local Government Units, including those in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), for the use of their Provincial/Municipal Agricultural Officers (PAOs/MAOs) and Agricultural Technicians (ATs) as trainors and supervisors during the field enumeration; and

  4. All other agencies to give publicity support through their Information Officers.
