IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE STATISTICAL SYSTEM, WITH FOCUS ON THE PHILIPPINE SYSTEM OF NATIONAL ACCOUNTS

WHEREAS, a discussion of the ongoing in-house assessments and data improvement projects, such as the Philippine Statistical Development Program, the revision of the Philippine System of National Accounts (PSNA) and the rationalization of major statistical surveys and censuses was made to explore the possibility of seeking funding assistance to improve the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), with emphasis on the PSNA;

WHEREAS, the NSCB-Technical Staff was tasked to take the lead in coordinating with NEDA and the major data producers in reviewing these in-house assessments and in formulating an integrated proposal;

WHEREAS, the NSCB-Technical Staff conducted one-on-one dialogues with the major data producers and identified the basic problems that have to be addressed and the involvement of the major data producers in the project implementation;

WHEREAS, as a result of these developments, the NSCB-Technical Staff prepared an integrated proposal to improve the PSS;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the integrated proposal to improve the PSS, with focus on the PSNA, for endorsement to funding institutions for preliminary discussion.
