ADOPTION OF THE DISASTER INFORMATION SYSTEM

WHEREAS, there is a need to collect and integrate timely statistical data which are vital in assessing the extent of the damage caused by natural calamities to serve as basis in the rehabilitation efforts of the government;

WHEREAS, there is a need to ensure the availability of reliable statistics for the formulation of appropriate remedial measures to alleviate the plight of affected areas;

WHEREAS, the development of a system capable of providing timely, accurate and useful statistics can be achieved through the coordinated efforts of various concerned government agencies and non-government organizations;

WHEREAS, a Task Force (TF) on Disaster Statistics was created through NSCB Memorandum Order No. 2-91, series of 1991, to pursue the development of a system in the generation and dissemination of comprehensive and well-integrated disaster statistics;

WHEREAS, an inventory of forms and reporting systems on disaster statistics as well as a thorough assessment of existing systems of collection, compilation and dissemination of disaster information was undertaken by the Task Force;

WHEREAS, the TF has developed a disaster information system based on a statistical framework;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the Disaster Information System as well as the recommendations stated in the report of the Task Force.

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, that a Memorandum of Agreement among concerned agencies be executed to facilitate the implementation of the Disaster Information System
