ADOPTION OF THE UPDATED SET OF POPULATION PROJECTIONS AT THE NATIONAL AND REGIONAL LEVELS

WHEREAS, new demographic information was obtained from the latest results of the 1993 National Demographic Survey (NDS);

WHEREAS, the fertility assumptions used by the Technical Committee on Population and Housing Statistics (TC-PHS) through the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Population Projections for the national and regional population projections approved by the Board on December 1, 1993 thru NSCB Resolution No. 11, s.1993, were considerably lower than those obtained in the 1993 NDS;

WHEREAS, the TC-PHS deems it necessary to update the population projections given the availability of more recent data;

WHEREAS, the TWG has come up with an updated set of national and regional population projections based on the latest estimates of demographic parameters;

WHEREAS, the TC-PHS in its meeting held 6 December 1994 has endorsed said projection estimates for approval by the Board;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve for adoption by all concerned the attached updated national and regional population projections as the official figures to be utilized for planning and programming purposes;

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, that resolutions issued by the Board in 1993 about population projections are hereby revoked to erase confusion among users.
