ADOPTION OF THE METHODOLOGY FOR ESTIMATING POPULATION PROJECTIONS AT THE PROVINCIAL LEVEL

WHEREAS, projections of the population at the provincial level are effective tools for estimating the need for specific government programs and services;

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee (TC) on Population and Housing Statistics, thru the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Population Projections, was tasked to prepare the methodology for estimating the provincial population projections based on the results of the 1993 National Demographic Survey to serve as basis for policy setting, plan formulation and program development at the subnational level;

WHEREAS, the methodology used in the estimation of the provincial projections was patterned from the methodology applied to the national and regional projections;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the methodology to generate estimates of provincial population projections. The resulting estimates based on this methodology will serve as the official figures to be utilized for planning purposes at the provincial level.
