APPROVING THE CREATION OF A TASK FORCE ON THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF A SCIENTIFIC CAREER SYSTEM FOR STATISTICIANS
WHEREAS, one of the thrusts of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) is to strengthen the capability of statistical manpower in the country;
WHEREAS, one of the identified mechanisms in strengthening statistical capability is the establishment of a scientific career system for statisticians which aims to provide recognition to the relevant/outstanding contributions of the statisticians in the country and to promote statistics as a profession;
WHEREAS, there exists a Scientific Career System (SCS) at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) with statistics as one of the disciplines covered under natural sciences;
WHEREAS, the SCS for Statisticians shall be pursued following the rules and regulations implementing the SCS of the DOST;
WHEREAS, the creation of a Task Force to define the guidelines and procedures of the SCS for Statisticians has been recommended by the NSCB Technical Staff;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the establishment of a scientific career system for statisticians for the upliftment of statistics as a profession and for the strengthened statistical capability in the PSS;
BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER that the Board approve the creation of a Task Force on the Establishment of a Scientific Career System for Statisticians for a duration of six months to set the guidelines and procedures of the SCS for Statisticians which is for implementation afterwards by the agencies and institutions in the public sector nationwide, to be composed of the following:
