APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE AMENDMENTS TO THE 1994 PHILIPPINE STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION

WHEREAS, a standard classification is necessary to ensure uniformity and comparability of statistics on economic activities compiled in the country;

WHEREAS, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) maintains the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) the latest of which was prepared in 1994 based on the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Rev. 3 issued by the UN Statistical Office in 1990;

WHEREAS, there is a need to amend the 1994 PSIC to reflect changes in various economic activities brought about by the introduction of new technologies, and the emergence and growing importance of new industries, especially in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and related industries;

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications (TCSSC) has recommended for adoption the amendments to the 1994 PSIC to enhance the consistency and usefulness of various statistics relating to economic activities.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the Amendments to the 1994 PSIC for adoption by concerned government offices, agencies and instrumentalities.
