ADOPTING THE METHODOLOGY USED IN GENERATING CITY/MUNICIPAL POPULATION PROJECTIONS, 1995-2010

WHEREAS, population projections are needed to provide planners, policy-makers and program managers with population data between censal years;

WHEREAS, the availability of more recent population data based on the 1995 Population Census (POPCEN) allows the preparation of the 1995 Census-Based City/Municipal Population Projections;

WHEREAS, the Technical Advisory Group and the NSO Population Projections Unit through the UNFPA-NSO Project PHI/96/PO1(Strengthening the NSO in Providing Data for Local Planning and Development) has come up with the "1995 Census-Based City/Municipal Population Projections".

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee on Population and Housing Statistics in its meeting held on 16 February 1999 has endorsed said methodology for approval by the Board;

WHEREAS, the NSCB Technical Staff has reviewed the said methodology;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve for adoption by all concerned the attached methodology in generating the 1995 Census-Based City/Municipal Population Projections as the official figures to be utilized for planning and programming purposes.
