APPROVING THE PHILIPPINE STATISTICAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
FOR 1999-2004

WHEREAS, the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) is a useful instrument for the integration and coordination of statistical activities in response to the development thrusts of the country;

WHEREAS, under Executive Order No. 121, one of the powers and functions of the National Statistical CoordinationBoard (NSCB) is to approve the Philippine Statistical Development Program;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) is prepared every six (6) years to serve as the blueprint of the directions, thrusts and priorities to be undertaken by the Philippine Statistical System;

WHEREAS, the latest PSDP is for the period 1993-1998, hence a new PSDP shall be formulated for the six year period, 1999-2004;

WHEREAS, the preparation of the PSDP 1999-2004 was coordinated by the NSCB Technical Staff with the assistance of a PSDP Steering Committee and nine (9) Technical Working Groups, whose members came from various government and non-government;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board approve the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) for 1999-2004 as submitted and presented by the Technical Staff and that the different agencies prioritize within their budget ceiling and prepare the financial requirements of the proposed statistical activities in accordance with the three-layer budgeting cycle;

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, that the approved Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP), 1999-2004:

(1) be endorsed to the President for issuance of a Proclamation for its adoption;
(2) be open for updating to consider emerging concerns;
(3) monmitored by the NSCB Technical Staff.
