ENJOINING AGENCIES IN THE PHILIPPINE STATISTICAL SYSTEM TO ADOPT MEASURES ADDRESSING THE “MILLENNIUM BUG”

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to encourage agencies to computerize their information systems;

WHEREAS, the forthcoming century poses a problem to the computer and software industries due to the “Millennium Bug;”

WHEREAS, the quality and reliability of statistical information that will be generated from computations based on years will be greatly affected;

WHEREAS, the software industry has been exerting efforts towards addressing the problems resulting from the “Millennium Bug;”

WHEREAS, the private sector’s efforts should be complemented by initiatives from the government through proper policy environment;

WHEREAS, the PSS should assure its clients of the integrity of statistical information;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board enjoin the PSS agencies to adopt measures to address issues/problems due to the “Millennium Bug.”
