Prices

The average farmgate price of cattle for slaughter in July to September 2019 was PhP113.73 per kilogram, liveweight. This was 4.5 percent higher than average farmgate price level of PhP108.79 per kilogram, liveweight, in 2018.

During the third quarter of 2019, the highest average farmgate price was recorded in September at PhP115.63 per kilogram, liveweight, while the lowest was in July at PhP111.61 per kilogram, liveweight. (Table 3)

Inventory

As of 01 July 2019, the total inventory of cattle in the country was estimated at 2.56 million heads. This was 0.4 percent higher than the 2018 stocks of 2.55 million heads.

The inventory of cows, as of 01 July 2019, was estimated at 1.09 million heads, which accounted for 42.7 percent of the total cattle stocks. The remaining 57.3 percent were contributed by heifer, yearling, bulls, and others (castrated and ready to breed bulls).
