  • Month-on-Month

    The Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) registered a slower rate of increment of 0.3 percent in November from 1.1 percent in October. The price of cement dropped to -0.1 percent from 0.6 percent; hardware, -0.5 percent from 1.1 percent; and reinforcing steel, -0.4 percent from 4.9 percent. Structural steel continued to post a negative rate of -0.8 percent from -1.0 percent. Moreover, increases in the prices of fuels and lubricants and paints correspondingly slowed down to 1.6 percent and 0.4 percent from 3.7 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. On the other hand, higher rates were seen in ten commodity groups. The price of lumber moved at its last month's rate of 0.4 percent while prices for the rest of the commodity groups generally remained stable as they recorded zero growth this month.
     

  • Year-on-Year

    The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR decelerated to 13.1 percent in November from 13.8 percent in October. Slower annual rates were observed in the prices of the following groups: cement, 6.4 percent in November from 7.3 percent in October; fuels and lubricants, 33.9 percent from 35.9 percent; hardware, 7.1 percent from 8.3 percent; metal pipes, 41.9 percent from 44.8 percent; concrete products, 9.7 percent from 11.1 percent; paints, 7.9 percent from 9.3 percent; reinforcing steel, 16.2 percent from 18.3 percent; structural steel, 3.8 percent from 4.6 percent; G.I. sheets, 12.7 percent from 14.7 percent; interior electrical fixtures and devices, 12.5 percent from 17.7 percent; and electrical rough-in materials, 16.5 percent from 23.8 percent. Meanwhile, annual add-ons in the prices of sand, stone and gravel, lumber, plywood, wood products, PVC pipes, plumbing fixtures, exterior electrical equipment/supplies, tileworks, and UPVC water pipes were on the uptrend. The annual inflation rates noted in the prices of asphalt, blasting materials and machinery and equipment rentals were zero. The rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month's rates.
