• Month-on-Month

  The month-on-month growth rate of the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) dropped to -0.2 percent in September from 0.8 percent in August. This can be attributed to the declines observed in the indexes of the following: fuels and lubricants, -2.7 percent from 1.8 percent; paints, -0.3 percent from 0.2 percent; reinforcing steel, -1.0 percent from 0.5 percent and structural steel, -0.6 percent from 0.4 percent. Likewise, slower price increments were correspondingly recorded in the indexes of lumber and wood products at 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent from 2.3 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, a higher price movement was noted in the index of tileworks at 1.6 percent from 0.5 percent last month. Prices for the rest of the commodity groups generally remained stable as they registered a zero growth during the month.
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR slowed down to 4.8 percent in September from 5.2 percent in August. Annual price decreases were posted in the index of wood products at -2.9 percent from -3.0 percent and paints, -0.2 percent from 0.1 percent. Slower annual price gains were also noticed in the indexes of sand, stone and gravel, fuels and lubricants, reinforcing steel and structural steel. On the other hand, higher annual price upticks were seen in the indexes of lumber, plywood, hardware and tileworks. The annual price adjustment for the rest of the commodity groups remained at their last month's annual growth rates while those for blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental were still zero.
