CMWPI

CMWPI in NCR slowly picks up in April 2020

The CMWPI in NCR posted a slower annual pace of 1.5 percent in April 2020 as compared to its annual rate in March 2020 of 1.6 percent. In April 2019, its annual rate of increase was 2.7 percent. (Table A and Table 2)

The slowdown was due to the continued declines in the annual rates posted in the indices of fuels and lubricants at 19.2 percent, and plywood at 0.4 percent. Also, contributing to the downtrend of the CMWPI was the slower annual hikes registered in the indices of electrical works at 0.7 percent, and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks at 1.2 percent.

Meanwhile, higher annual increases were recorded in the indices of hardware at 5.0 percent and lumber at 4.4 percent. The indices of the other commodity groups either retained their previous month’s annual growth rates or had a zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
