CMWPI in NCR slowly picks up during the month
The annual increment of CMWPI in NCR eased to 1.0 percent in August 2020. Its annual rate in July 2020 was posted at 1.8 percent and in August 2019, 3.5 percent. (Tables A and 2)
Annual rates continued to decrease in the indices of the following commodity groups during the period:
a. Plywood; and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, both at 0.6 percent;
b. Reinforcing and structural steel, 2.5 percent; and
c. Fuel and lubricants, 5.8 percent.
Relative to their annual rates in July 2020, annual increases were slower in the indices of concrete products and cement at 3.2 percent; G.I. sheet, 0.9 percent; and tileworks, 13.4 percent.
On the other hand, annual mark-ups were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Sand and gravel, 1.2 percent;
b. Electrical works, 2.1 percent;
c. Painting works, 0.7 percent; and
d. PVC pipes, 3.8 percent.
The indices of the rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
