The annual rate of change of CMWPI in NCR moves upward during the month
The year-on-year change of CMWPI in NCR picked up by 1.8 percent in January 2020. Its annual growth rate in December 2019 was recorded at 1.2 percent and in January 2019, 4.4 percent. (Table A and Table 2)
Compared with their annual rates in December 2019, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:
- Hardware, 4.9 percent;
- G.I. sheet, 3.9 percent;
- Tileworks, 16.1 percent;
- Electrical works, 3.2 percent;
- Painting works, 1.1 percent;
- PVC pipes, 7.5 percent; and
- Fuels and lubricants, 9.1 percent.
Moreover, the index of reinforcing and structural steel during the period inched up by 0.01 percent, from -0.8 percent in the previous month. Similarly, the index of glass and glass products rose by 7.1 percent, from a zero growth in the previous month.
On the other hand, slower annual increments were registered in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
- Sand and gravel, 3.9 percent;
- Plywood, 0.04 percent;
- Lumber, 3.4 percent; and
- Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 4.3 percent.
The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s annual rates or had zero annual growth during the month.
