CMWPI in NCR increases further this month
The CMWPI in NCR picked up at an annual rate of 1.2 percent in January 2021. Its annual change in December 2020 was registered at 1.0 percent, and in January 2020, 1.8 percent. (Tables A and 2)
A higher annual increment of 3.6 percent was noted in the index of sand and gravel during the month. In addition, annual rates in the indices of plywood went up by 0.4 percent; and reinforcing and structural steel, 1.7 percent, from their previous month’s annual declines of -0.1 percent and -0.8 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, annual increases were slower in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Concrete products and cement, 0.8 percent;
b. Hardware, 1.4 percent;
c. Lumber, 3.6 percent;
d. G.I. sheet and painting works, both at 0.4 percent;
e. Tileworks, 2.6 percent; and
f. PVC pipes, 1.3 percent.
Moreover, the indices of the following commodity groups posted annual decreases during the month:
a. Electrical works, -0.01 percent;
b. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, -3.3 percent; and
c. Fuels and lubricants, -7.5 percent.
The index of door, jambs, and steel casement retained its previous month’s annual rate of 0.2 percent, while the rest of the commodity groups exhibited zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
