CMWPI in NCR picked up further in November 2021

The annual rate of CMWPI in NCR moved up to 5.4 percent in November 2021, from 4.7 percent in October 2021. In November 2020, its annual growth rate was recorded at 0.8 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The double-digit annual growth of the index of fuels and lubricants rose further to 38.3 percent in November 2021, from 33.3 percent in October 2021. Moreover, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Sand and gravel, and concrete products and cement, both at 3.0 percent;
b. Plywood, 2.6 percent;
c. Reinforcing and structural steel, 8.8 percent;
d. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.5 percent;
e. Electrical works, 7.2 percent; and
f. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 1.8 percent.

Meanwhile, annual increments were slower in the indices of hardware at 2.6 percent; and lumber, 2.8 percent. In addition, the index of tileworks dropped further at an annual rate of -1.8 percent in November 2021, from -0.1 percent in the previous month.

The rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month’s annual growth rates or still had zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
