CMWPI in NCR moves upward during the month

The annual rate of CMWPI in NCR picked up by 0.8 percent in October 2020. Its annual change in September 2020 was recorded at 0.5 percent and in October 2019, 2.6 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Compared with their annual rates in September 2020, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups in October 2020:

a. Sand and gravel, 1.7 percent;
b. Tileworks, 13.8 percent;
c. Doors, jambs; and steel casement, 0.2 percent; and
d. PVC pipes, 4.4 percent.

On the other hand, annual increments slowed down in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Concrete products and cement, 1.1 percent;
b. Hardware; and lumber, both at 3.0 percent; and
c. Electrical works, 1.5 percent.

Moreover, anual decreases were still noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the period:

a. Plywood, -0.4 percent;
b. Reinforcing and structural steel; and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, both at -1.0 percent; and
c. Fuels and lubricants, -11.3 percent.

The indices of the rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
