Duck egg production during the first quarter of 2018 (10,652 metric tons) declined by 2.41 percent compared to the production in the same period in 2017. Central Luzon was the highest producer of duck egg with gross output of 3,912 metric tons . This was followed by Western Visayas and Northern Mindanao with gross outputs of 1,249 metric tons and 1,190 metric tons , respectively. These regions accounted for 60.00 percent of the total duck egg production in the country.
As of January 1, 2018, the total inventory of duck laying flock was slightly higher by 0.53 percent compared to the previous year’s count of 5.64 million heads.The population of laying flock in backyard farms increased by 3.80 percent while stocks in commercial farms decreased by 3.50 percent .

Technical Notes
This Duck Egg Situation Report presents the duck egg industry in terms of volume of production, inventory of laying flock by farm type and average farmgate prices. The report was prepared to serve as ready reference for our various clients and stakeholders in the agriculture sector. It is released quarterly in January, May, August and November every year.
Concepts and Definitions:
Volume of Production refers to the volume of duck egg disposed from locally-raised duck, including those eggs which were shipped out to other region/province. This is expressed in metric tons.
Inventory refers to the actual number of duck laying flock present in the farm as of a specific reference date.
Farmgate Price refers to the price received by farmers, livestock and poultry raisers for the sale of their produce at the first point of sale net of freight.
