Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) officials, personnel, and external stakeholders convened onsite and online for the KES

20 May 2024 – QUEZON CITY. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Knowledge Exchange Series (KES) has launched a special seminar dedicated to promoting the agency’s Data Enclave Centers (DEC). This seminar series will run for three consecutive months, with the first session held on 20 May 2024.

The first KES special seminar for the promotion of DEC featured two research presentations: “MUSIKAPILIPINAS: Research and Mapping Toward Understanding, Scoping, and Defining the Philippine Music Industry” by Ma. Alexandra I. Chua, Marjorie S. Muyrong, Jason Matthew Tung, Lyon Ricardo III Lopez, and Jong Azores, and “Operationalizing Statistical Mapping of Selected Creative & Cultural Sectors under the Philippine Cultural Statistics Framework” by Dr. Ma. Paquita D. Bonnet.

Over 170 participants, including PSA officials, personnel, and external stakeholders, attended the hybrid seminar either at the Media Center in the PSA Headquarters or via video conferencing. Among them were representatives from a diverse array of academic institutions, including Ateneo de Manila University, Bataan Peninsula State University, Bohol Island State University, Bulacan State University, Camiguin Polytechnic State College, Cebu Technological University, Central Luzon State University, Central Philippine University, De La Salle University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology, Negros Oriental State University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Tarlac Agricultural University, University of Northern Philippines, University of San Agustin, University of San Carlos, University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, West Visayas State University, and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University. Additionally, participants from various stakeholders in the public sector were also present.

The KES earmarked May, June, and July 2024 for promoting the PSA DECs. The KES special seminars stand out as pivotal platforms that aim to foster meaningful sharing of knowledge and insights among PSA officials, personnel, and stakeholders about various research topics by individuals/groups who have benefited from the services offered by the PSA DECs. In addition, they enable discussions about the DECs’ effectiveness, impact on stakeholders, and opportunities for improvement. The KES special seminars strategically promote and improve the use of establishment-based data available in DECs at the Regional Statistical Services Offices.

The KES is an initiative aligned with the PSA's commitment to fostering an institution that encourages continuous learning, strategic collaborations, and impactful innovations.
