MERCHANDISE EXPORTS FOR JUNE 2010 UP BY 33.4 PERCENT

Export earnings in June 2010 amounted to $4.545 billion, registering a double-digit growth of 33.4 percent from it�s year ago level of $3.407 billion. Compared to previous month level it also went up by 7.2 percent from $4.241 billion in May 2010. Aggregate merchandise exports from January to June 2010 also showed an increase of 37.7 percent to $23.711 billion from $17.225 billion posted during the same 6-month period in 2009.

 

ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS INCREASED BY 49.1 PERCENT

Accounting for 63.9 percent of the total export revenue in June 2010, Electronic Products was the country�s top export with total earnings of $2.904 billion. It grew by 49.1 percent from $1.948 billion in June 2009. Components/Devices (Semiconductors) which comprised 50.5 percent of the total exports and the biggest share among the major groups of electronic products amounted to $2.293 billion or an annual growth of 71.2 percent. Month-on-month, Electronic Products also increased by 13.7 percent from $2.554 billion in May 2010.

Articles of Apparel and Clothing Accessories followed as the second top earner in June 2010 with total export earnings of $152.36 million or a share of 3.4 percent to the total export receipts. It grew by 9.6 percent from $139.05 million recorded in June 2009.

Coconut Oil (including crude and refined) which comprised 2.1 percent share of total exports in June 2010 emerged as RP�s third top gainer with revenue valued at $95.62 million, an increase of 56.6 percent from $61.05 million recorded during the same month in 2009.

Ranked fourth in June 2010 and contributing 2.1 percent to the total export receipts was Ignition Wiring Set and Other Wiring Sets Used in Vehicles, Aircrafts and Ships (consisting only of electrical wiring harness for motor vehicles) with revenue amounting to $94.27 million. This value was up by 34.2 percent from its year ago level of $70.26 million.

Woodcrafts and Furniture with 2.0 percent share to the total export receipts ranked fifth with value posted at $88.63 million or a 4.8 percent increase from $84.56 million registered in June 2009.

Rounding up the list of the top ten exports for the month of June 2010 were Cathodes & Sections of Cathodes of Refined Copper with export earnings of $79.04 million, up by 14.1 percent; Metal Components (excluding brakes and servo - brakes) with export receipts of $65.74 million expanded by 78.8 percent, representing the highest increase among the top ten exports; Other Products Manufactured from Materials Imported on Consignment Basis with export revenue of $54.86 million declined by 11.0 percent; Tuna (including fresh, frozen, prepared or preserved in airtight containers) with proceeds billed at $32.00 million grew by 3.3 percent; and Bananas recorded sales amounting to $25.52 million decreased by 25.4 percent.

Total receipts from the top ten exports reached $3.592 billion, or 79.0 percent of the total exports.

EXPORTS OF MANUFACTURED GOODS STOOD AT $3.997 BILLION

Accounting for 87.9 percent of the total receipts, outward shipments of Manufactured Goods in June 2010 reached $3.997 billion or a 36.4 percent increase from $2.930 billion recorded in the same period a year earlier. Month-on-month, it grew by 8.1 percent from $3.697 billion recorded in May 2010.

Income from Total Agro-Based Products comprising 5.0 percent of the total exports revenue in June 2010 went up by 21.2 percent to $228.61 million from $188.60 million in June 2009. Compared to its previous month level, it lowered by 5.5 percent from $242.02 million posted in May 2010.

Earnings from Mineral Products with a share of 3.8 percent in June 2010 reached $174.37 million. It increased by 53.5 percent from $113.62 million in June 2009. However, export receipts from Special Transactions reflecting 1.7 percent share contracted by 38.5 percent from $127.53 million in June 2009 to $78.40 million recorded in June 2010.

Forest Products with 1.4 percent share of the total exports accelerated by 1,594.3 percent to $65.31 million registered in June 2010 from $3.86 million in June 2009. On the contrary, exports revenue of Petroleum Products with less than 0.1 percent share of the total exports decelerated by 97.0 percent from $43.24 million to $1.30 million in June 2010.

EXPORTS TO SINGAPORE ACCOUNTED FOR 16.5 PERCENT

Singapore comprising 16.5 percent of the total exports for June 2010 emerged as the country�s top destination of exports for June 2010 with revenue amounting to $748.83 million. It was higher by 201.1 percent from $248.74 million recorded a year ago.

United States of America (USA) including Alaska and Hawaii followed as the second top market of the country for June 2010 with export earnings of $743.49 million or 16.4 percent share of the total exports. The amount increased by 22.3 percent from $607.96 million reported a year earlier.

Japan including Okinawa representing a 14.5 percent of the total exports came in third with shipments amounting to $659.23 million. Compared to its June 2009 level, the amount grew by 13.9 percent from $578.64 million.

Hong Kong ranked fourth in June 2010 with $406.28 million or 8.9 percent share of the total exports, advanced by 58.3 percent from it�s June 2009 level of $256.69 million.

Fifth in rank and accounting for 8.9 percent share of the total exports was People�s Republic of China with export earnings worth $403.86 million or an increase of 47.2 percent from $274.38 million posted in June 2009.

Other top ten markets for June 2010 were Germany, $262.66 million; Netherlands, $233.37 million; Republic of Korea, $210.79 million; Thailand, $153.72 million; and Taiwan, $137.19 million.

Total export receipts from RP�s top ten markets for the month of June 2010 amounted to $3.959 billion or 87.1 percent of the total.

EXPORTS FROM EASTERN ASIA WORTH $1.818 BILLION

Philippines total exports in June 2010 to Eastern Asia (China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea and Taiwan) accounted for 40.0 percent of the county�s total exports. It amounted to $1.818 billion or an increase of 29.7 percent from it�s June 2009 level of $1.402 billion.

Exports to ASEAN member-countries representing 24.4 percent share of the total exports in June 2010 worth $1.109 billion, an annual positive growth of 113.2 percent from $520.11 million recorded in June 2009.

June 2010 total exports to European Union (EU) with a 14.7 percent contribution to total exports were valued at $667.36 million. It expanded by 3.4 percent from $645.31 million registered in June 2009.
